About the Toyota Hilux N60
N60 is the chassis code for the four-wheel-drive, short- and medium-wheelbase versions of the fourth-generation Hilux, which Toyota launched in November 1983 with blistered wheel arches and a renewed interior. Single and double cabs were offered from launch, alongside the new Xtracab extended cab. The representative 2.4 D used Toyota's 2,446 cc 2L diesel, rated at 75 PS, with selectable four-wheel drive and a leaf-sprung solid front axle, which lower-trim and single-cab versions outside North America kept until 1997. North American trucks, sold simply as the Toyota Truck, switched to independent front suspension for 1986 and offered petrol engines up to a 3.0-litre V6. The fifth-generation Hilux replaced it in 1988.
