About the Renault GTA
Launched as the successor to the A310, the GTA was the first Alpine developed under full Renault ownership and was sold in the UK simply as the Renault GTA. It features a distinctive glass-fibre and polyester body bonded to a steel backbone chassis, achieving a remarkably low drag coefficient of 0.30 in Turbo trim. The rear-mounted 2.5-litre PRV V6 provides strong mid-range punch, though the car is known for its pronounced turbo lag and rear-biased handling characteristics. Despite its performance and 2+2 practicality, it remained a rare sight compared to its contemporary German rivals.
