About the Renault Espace Mk4
The fourth-generation Renault Espace marked a significant shift for the model, moving from Matra-built composite bodies to an in-house Renault steel chassis. It was the first MPV to achieve a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating, cementing its reputation as the premier European family hauler of the early 2000s. The 2.2 dCi engine provided the necessary torque for long-distance cruising, though it was later superseded by more reliable 2.0-litre units. Inside, the 'Grand' version offered class-leading space with a futuristic, minimalist dashboard design that remains distinctive today.
