About the Renault Clio Williams
Launched in 1993 as a homologation special for Group A and Group N rallying, the Clio Williams quickly became a performance icon. Though named after the Williams F1 team, the engineering was handled by Renault Sport, who increased the displacement of the standard 1.8-litre engine to 2.0 litres and uprated the chassis with a reinforced front subframe and wider track. The original 'Phase 1' cars are the most collectible, distinguished by a numbered brass plaque on the dashboard and a lack of a sunroof. It is widely regarded as one of the best-handling front-wheel-drive cars ever made, offering a pure, tactile driving experience that defined the era.
