About the Mercedes-AMG A 45 W177
The W177-generation A 45 S redefined the hot hatchback segment upon its 2019 debut, featuring the M139 engine—the most powerful series-production 2.0-litre four-cylinder ever made. Unlike its predecessor, the engine is rotated 180 degrees to improve packaging and airflow, paired with a sophisticated 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system. This system includes AMG Torque Control, which uses two electronically controlled multi-disc clutches on the rear axle to enable a dedicated 'Drift Mode'. It delivers supercar-rivalling acceleration and a chassis tuned for extreme agility, bridging the gap between traditional hatchbacks and dedicated sports cars.
