About the Renault Clio V6
The Phase 2 Clio V6 was a significant evolution of Renault's mid-engined experiment, moving production in-house to the Alpine factory in Dieppe. Unlike the TWR-built Phase 1, the Phase 2 benefited from a longer wheelbase, wider front track, and revised suspension geometry to address the original's notoriously twitchy handling. The 3.0-litre V6 was tuned to produce 255 PS, making it the most powerful hot hatch in the world at the time of its launch. It remains a singular piece of automotive engineering, combining a humble supermini silhouette with a supercar-style layout.

Renault Clio V6 fun facts
- The Phase 2 was hand-assembled at the Alpine factory in Dieppe, France, rather than by TWR in Sweden like the Phase 1.
- Despite its hatchback appearance, the Clio V6 has no rear seats and a turning circle of 13 metres, wider than many large luxury saloons.
- The engine was a modified version of the 'ES9' V6 used in the Renault Laguna and Peugeot 406, but with new cylinder heads and induction.
