About the Renault 8 Gordini
The Renault 8 Gordini 1300 (R1135) is the definitive evolution of Amédée Gordini’s 'giant-killer' saloon. Replacing the 1100 in 1966, it featured a larger 1255cc engine with twin Weber 40 DCOE carburetors and a rare-for-the-period five-speed gearbox. Instantly recognisable by its French Racing Blue paint, twin white stripes, and quad-headlight nose, it was a dominant force in rallying, famously sweeping the podium at the Tour de Corse. Its rear-engine layout and swing-axle suspension demand a skilled hand, offering a tail-happy, visceral driving experience that birthed the French 'GTI' spirit.
