About the Renault 20
Launched in 1975 as a more affordable four-cylinder alternative to the V6-powered Renault 30, the Renault 20 was a pioneer of the large executive hatchback format. The TS trim, introduced in 1977, featured the 'Douvrin' 2.0-litre engine developed in partnership with Peugeot, offering a significant performance boost over the original 1.6-litre units. It was lauded for its exceptional ride quality and versatile interior, which included a folding rear seat that anticipated the flexibility of modern estates. While once common on European roads, survival rates are low due to corrosion issues, making well-preserved examples increasingly sought after by collectors of 1970s French design.
