About the Alfa Romeo Alfasud
The Alfasud 1.5 ti represents the peak of Alfa Romeo's revolutionary front-wheel-drive project, featuring the 1980 'Series 3' updates including plastic bumpers and a revised interior. Engineered by Rudolf Hruska and styled by Giorgetto Giugiaro, it was celebrated for a low centre of gravity and class-leading handling that shamed many contemporary sports cars. While its reputation was famously marred by severe corrosion issues due to poor-quality steel, surviving examples are now highly prized for their tactile steering and charismatic boxer engine note. The 1.5 ti variant, equipped with twin-choke carburettors, remains one of the most desirable iterations of the original 'Sud' saloon.
