About the Pontiac Grand Prix

The 1973 Grand Prix marked the debut of the fourth-generation 'Colonnade' styling, featuring a fixed opera window and a shorter 116-inch wheelbase shared with the A-body platform. While the 400 and 455 cubic-inch V8s remained the primary choices, the 350 V8 served as a more efficient entry point during the onset of the 1970s fuel crisis. Despite the industry-wide shift toward lower compression and net horsepower ratings, the 1973 model was a massive commercial success, nearly doubling the previous year's sales. Collectors value this year for its unique one-year-only interior featuring real African Crossfire Mahogany trim before it was replaced by simulated woodgrain.
