About the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am
Pontiac’s second-generation Firebird arrived in 1970 and evolved into one of the decade’s most recognisable American performance cars. The 1977 Trans Am gained a new front end with four rectangular headlights and became closely associated with Smokey and the Bandit. This representative W72 specification uses Pontiac’s 400 cubic-inch V8 and a four-speed manual, rather than the standard 180 hp engine. T-tops provide an open-air option, but special-edition appearance packages should not be assumed from the Trans Am name alone.
