About the Polestar Polestar 1
The Polestar 1 was the debut flagship for Volvo's electrified performance spin-off, serving as a high-tech bridge between internal combustion and a fully electric future. Based on the 2013 Volvo Concept Coupé, it features a complex carbon-fibre reinforced polymer body that saves 230kg and increases torsional stiffness by 45% compared to a steel equivalent. Its unique powertrain combines a turbocharged and supercharged 2.0-litre engine driving the front wheels with two electric motors at the rear, providing genuine torque vectoring. Despite its significant weight, the car is praised for its sophisticated Öhlins dampers and grand touring capabilities, though its limited production run of 1,500 units ensures it remains a rare sight.
