About the Polestar 1
The Polestar 1 was the debut model for Polestar as a standalone brand, serving as a high-technology halo car before the company transitioned to fully electric vehicles. Based on the 2013 Volvo Concept Coupé, it features a complex plug-in hybrid powertrain combining a supercharged and turbocharged 2.0-litre engine with two rear electric motors. Its body is constructed largely from carbon-fibre reinforced polymer to offset the weight of its 34kWh battery pack, which provides one of the longest electric ranges of any hybrid. Despite its heavy kerb weight, the 1 offers precise handling thanks to manually adjustable Öhlins Dual Flow Valve dampers and genuine torque vectoring at the rear axle.
