About the Peugeot 206 GTi
Introduced in 2003 to restore Peugeot's hot hatch reputation, the GTi 180 (known as the RC in mainland Europe) was a significantly more focused machine than the standard 2.0 GTi. It featured a reworked EW10J4S engine with variable valve timing and a free-flowing exhaust, delivering a peaky power delivery that encouraged high-revving driving. The chassis was sharpened with a stiffer rear beam, 17-inch 'Atlantis' alloy wheels, and a quicker steering rack. Inside, it was distinguished by heavily bolstered Alcantara bucket seats and a unique instrument cluster, making it a cult favourite among enthusiasts who appreciated its old-school, lift-off oversteer characteristics.
