About the Opel Rekord B
The Opel Rekord B was a transitional model produced for only ten months between the Rekord A and C. Despite its brief production run, it was historically significant for introducing Opel's 'Cam-in-Head' (CIH) engine family, a robust design that remained in production for over two decades. The 1900 trim featured the largest of the new four-cylinder units, offering a substantial performance boost over its predecessors. Visually, it updated the Rekord A's American-influenced styling with rectangular headlights and distinctive round quad-taillights, a design cue later shared with the Opel GT. Today, it is a rare sight compared to the mass-produced Rekord C, valued by collectors for its unique 'stop-gap' status and chrome-era charm.
