About the NSU Prinz
The NSU Prinz 4 was a significant evolution of the Prinz series, featuring a distinctive 'bathtub' design heavily inspired by the Chevrolet Corvair. It was powered by a rear-mounted, air-cooled two-cylinder engine derived from NSU's motorcycle expertise, known for its reliability and high-revving nature. Despite its diminutive size, the Prinz 4 offered surprising interior space and visibility thanks to its upright pillars and large glass area. It became a symbol of West German mobility in the 1960s, offering a more modern alternative to the Volkswagen Beetle before NSU was eventually absorbed into the Audi brand.
