About the Nissan President 150
Introduced in 1965 to replace the Cedric Special, the H150-generation President was Nissan's first true full-size luxury limousine. Developed to compete with the Toyota Crown Eight and Mitsubishi Debonair, it was the preferred transport for Japanese Prime Ministers and high-ranking corporate executives. The 4.0-litre Y40 V8 was designed specifically for this model, prioritising smoothness and silence over outright performance through the use of hydraulic tappets and a silent timing chain. Its conservative, American-influenced styling and hand-built quality established a template for Japanese executive luxury that would endure for over four decades.
