About the Morris Marina

Launched in 1971 to replace the Morris Minor and Oxford, the Marina was British Leyland's rushed response to the dominant Ford Cortina. It utilised a parts-bin approach, featuring a live rear axle and front suspension derived from the 1948 Morris Minor, which led to notorious handling issues and heavy understeer in early models. Despite critical panning for its lack of refinement and dated technology, it was a massive commercial success, consistently ranking as one of Britain's best-selling cars throughout the decade. Today, it is a rare survivor and a cult classic, valued more for its period charm and social history than its dynamic capabilities.
