About the Mini Paceman R61
The Mini Paceman (R61) was a short-lived attempt to create a niche 'Sports Activity Coupé' by blending the rugged underpinnings of the Countryman with a sleeker, three-door body. While it shared the R60's wheelbase, it featured a lower roofline and a more aggressive stance, aimed at buyers who found the standard Mini too small but the Countryman too utilitarian. The base Cooper trim utilised the naturally aspirated 1.6-litre Prince engine, offering a balanced but modest driving experience focused more on urban style than outright performance. Production was discontinued after just one generation as Mini consolidated its line-up, making it a relatively rare sight on modern roads.
