About the MG TF
The MG TF was a significant evolution of the MGF, replacing the interconnected Hydragas suspension with a more conventional coil-spring setup for sharper, more predictable handling. The 135 trim utilised the 1.8-litre K-Series engine with improved breathing and camshafts, positioned mid-ship for excellent balance. While it faced stiff competition from the Mazda MX-5, the TF offered a more exotic mid-engined layout and classic British styling. Production was interrupted by the collapse of MG Rover in 2005, though the model was briefly revived later under Chinese ownership.
