About the MG Montego

Launched in 1985, the MG Montego Turbo was British Leyland's answer to the era's performance saloons, featuring a Garrett T3 turbocharger and a stiffened chassis. It was briefly the fastest MG ever produced, capable of out-accelerating contemporary rivals like the BMW 325i and Ford Sierra XR4x4. Despite early reliability concerns and a reputation for torque steer, it is now a rare and sought-after modern classic due to its rapid straight-line speed and period-correct digital dashboard features. Survival rates are exceptionally low, making well-preserved examples highly prized by enthusiasts of the 'Austin Rover' era.
