About the MG Magnette Mark III
Launched in 1959, the MG Magnette Mark III marked a radical departure from the curvy Z-Series, adopting the sharp 'Farina' styling shared with stablemates like the Riley 4/68 and Wolseley 15/60. While purists initially lamented the loss of MG's bespoke coachwork, the Mark III offered improved visibility and a more spacious cabin trimmed in leather and polished walnut. It is powered by the 1.5-litre B-Series engine equipped with twin SU carburettors, providing a slightly higher output than its Austin counterparts. Today, it is appreciated as a comfortable, usable classic that represents the badge-engineered era of the British Motor Corporation.
