About the Mercedes-Benz G-Class W460
The W460 generation G-Class was developed as a military vehicle in partnership with Steyr-Daimler-Puch before its civilian launch in 1979. The 280 GE sat at the top of the early range, utilizing the M110 fuel-injected engine also found in the S-Class and SL of the era. Unlike modern luxury-focused G-Wagons, the W460 is a utilitarian tool featuring a spartan interior, manual locking differentials, and a ladder-frame chassis. Its reputation for near-indestructibility and classic boxy silhouette has made well-preserved early examples highly sought after by collectors.
