About the Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 X156
The Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 (X156) launched as a high-performance alternative to the standard GLA, effectively transplanting the A 45 AMG's drivetrain into a slightly taller, more practical body. At its heart is the hand-built M133 engine, which at launch was the most powerful series-production four-cylinder in the world, featuring a twin-scroll turbocharger pushing 1.8 bar of boost. It features a variable 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system that can send up to 50% of torque to the rear wheels, paired with a stiffened AMG sports suspension. While it offers SUV-like visibility and a larger boot than the A-Class, its low ground clearance and aggressive damping make it feel more like a mega-hatch than a traditional off-roader.
