About the McLaren F1 GT
The McLaren F1 GT is the rarest production iteration of the F1, created as a road-legal homologation special for the 1997 F1 GTR 'Longtail' race car. It features distinctive elongated bodywork, including a prominent nose and a long rear deck designed to increase aerodynamic downforce without the drag of a fixed rear wing. Only three examples were ever built: the prototype 'XP-GT' (retained by McLaren) and two customer cars. Mechanically, it retains the standard F1's BMW-sourced S70/2 V12 engine and central driving position, but offers a unique aesthetic and historical link to McLaren's Le Mans heritage.

McLaren F1 GT rarity in CarSpot
The McLaren F1 GT is a Unicorn card in CarSpot, with a rarity score of 100 out of 100. The rarest tier: hypercars, one-offs and cars built in tiny numbers, typically fewer than about 500. A Unicorn card is worth 320 XP.
Each model's tier starts from a 0–100 score based on its value plus its power or production numbers. Once enough players have spotted a model, how often it is spotted can move it up or down one tier. How CarSpot rarity works
Rarity is a collectible game mechanic, not an assessment of real-world scarcity or value.
McLaren F1 GT fun facts
- The F1 GT was built specifically to satisfy FIA GT1 regulations, which required at least one road-legal version of the new 'Longtail' racing body style.
- The prototype XP-GT is finished in 'Deep Burgundy', while the two customer cars were reportedly finished in 'Silver' and 'Black'.
- Despite the 'Longtail' moniker, the F1 GT does not feature the massive adjustable rear wing found on the GTR race cars, relying instead on its integrated rear deck for stability.
