About the McLaren 540C
Launched at the 2015 Shanghai Motor Show, the 540C was designed as the most accessible model in McLaren's Sports Series. It shares the carbon-fibre MonoCell II chassis and M838TE twin-turbo V8 with the 570S, though detuned for a more road-focused character. While McLaren marketed it as a 'sports car' to rival the Porsche 911 Turbo, its mid-engine layout and dihedral doors maintain a true supercar presence. It features a subtly revised aerodynamic package and softer suspension tuning compared to its more powerful siblings, making it the most daily-drivable McLaren of its era.
