About the Mazda RX-3
The Mazda RX-3, known as the Savanna in Japan, is a cornerstone of rotary history, bridging the gap between the experimental Cosmo and the iconic RX-7. Based on the Grand Familia chassis, it gained legendary status by ending the Nissan Skyline GT-R's 49-race winning streak in Japanese touring car racing. The 10A rotary engine provided a high power-to-weight ratio, though the car retained a simple live-axle rear suspension. Today, it is highly prized by JDM collectors for its aggressive 'coke-bottle' styling and its role in establishing Mazda's motorsport pedigree.
