About the Nissan S-Cargo

The Nissan S-Cargo is the commercial member of the 'Pike Factory' quartet, a series of retro-styled vehicles built by Nissan's special projects group. Its name is a double entendre, standing for 'Small Cargo' while phonetically mimicking 'escargot', the French word for snail, which reflects its distinctive profile. Mechanically, it is based on the B11-generation Nissan Sunny, utilizing a simple carburetted 1.5-litre engine and a three-speed automatic gearbox. Though designed for urban deliveries in Japan, it has become a global cult classic and a popular promotional vehicle due to its whimsical design and surprisingly spacious, high-roofed interior.
