About the Mazda Premacy CP
The first-generation Mazda Premacy was launched as a compact multi-purpose vehicle based on the CP platform shared with the 323 (Familia). The 2.0 GXi trim served as a mid-range offering in the UK, providing a balance of equipment and the larger 2.0-litre FS-DE engine. Unlike many rivals, the Premacy featured a lower centre of gravity and conventional rear doors rather than sliding ones, resulting in handling characteristics closer to a hatchback than a traditional van. It was praised for its reliability and the flexibility of its removable rear seats, though it lacked the seven-seat capacity of larger competitors.
