About the Mazda MX-5 NA
Introduced in 1989, the first-generation MX-5 revived the light, rear-wheel-drive roadster for a new audience. The early 1.6 manual has modest power but a slick gearbox and responsive handling, making it rewarding at ordinary speeds. Known as the Miata in North America, the NA became a global enthusiast favourite. Rust, especially around the sills, is an important consideration when choosing a good example.
