About the Mazda 3 MPS BK
The BK-generation Mazda 3 MPS (Mazdaspeed3 in North America) arrived as one of the most powerful front-wheel-drive cars on the market, featuring a detuned version of the 2.3-litre MZR DISI Turbo engine from the 6 MPS. To manage the significant torque, Mazda implemented a sophisticated boost-control system in the first two gears and a mechanical limited-slip differential. While it suffered from notable torque steer, it was praised for its immense mid-range punch and understated 'sleeper' styling compared to the contemporary Ford Focus ST or Honda Civic Type R. It remains a cult favourite for its tuning potential and robust mechanicals.
