About the Audi S3 8P
The second-generation Audi S3 (8P) refined the formula of its predecessor, pairing a potent 2.0-litre TFSI engine with a Haldex-based quattro all-wheel-drive system. While the standard A3 used the same block, the S3 featured a larger KKK K04 turbocharger, a reinforced block, and a high-flow intercooler to produce 265 PS. The 2008 facelift introduced the five-door Sportback body style and the optional S tronic dual-clutch transmission, though the manual remains the enthusiast's choice. It is celebrated for its understated 'sleeper' looks, high-quality cabin, and composed handling, even if it lacks the raw involvement of some contemporary rivals.

Audi S3 8P fun facts
- The S3 8P's engine uses a larger K04 turbocharger compared to the K03 found in the contemporary Golf GTI, allowing for significantly higher tuning potential.
- Though badged as 'quattro', the S3 actually uses a transverse-engine Haldex clutch system rather than the longitudinal Torsen differential found in larger Audis.
- The 8P S3 was never officially sold in the United States, making it a sought-after 'forbidden fruit' for North American Audi enthusiasts.
