About the Mazda 2 DY
The first-generation Mazda 2, designated DY, replaced the Demio and shared its platform with the Ford Fiesta Mk5. Unlike the more curvaceous Fiesta, the Mazda 2 adopted a 'tall-boy' hatchback silhouette, prioritising interior headroom and cargo flexibility. The 1.4-litre engine is a Yamaha-designed Sigma unit, providing modest performance suited for urban environments. While it lacks the driving verve of its successor, it is highly regarded for its mechanical robustness and practical cabin layout.
