About the Maserati Kyalami
The Kyalami was the first new model released under Alejandro de Tomaso's ownership of Maserati, serving as a bridge between the Citroën era and the Biturbo years. It was based heavily on the De Tomaso Longchamp, sharing its chassis and Pietro Frua-designed bodywork, though Maserati replaced the Ford V8 with their own quad-cam engine. The 4.2-litre variant offered a more traditional, high-revving Italian grand touring experience compared to the torquier 4.9-litre version. With only 200 units produced in total, it remains one of the rarest production Maseratis of the 1970s.
