About the LTI TX4
The LTI TX4 represents the final evolution of the purpose-built diesel London taxi before the transition to electric power. Introduced in 2007, it retained the iconic retro styling of its predecessors while meeting Euro 4 (and later Euro 5 and 6) emissions standards using a VM Motori turbodiesel engine. Its design prioritises a tight 25-foot turning circle and wheelchair accessibility, features mandated by London's Public Carriage Office. While utilitarian, the TX4 is a British cultural icon, engineered for a service life of hundreds of thousands of miles in dense urban traffic.

- The 2.5-litre VM Motori engine was chosen specifically for its durability in the stop-start nature of professional taxi work.
