About the Lancia Delta S4 Stradale
The Lancia Delta S4 Stradale is the road-going homologation special for Lancia's most extreme Group B rally car. It famously pioneered twincharging, using an Abarth Volumex supercharger for low-end response and a KKK turbocharger for high-end power. Unlike the standard front-engine Delta, the S4 features a mid-mounted engine and a tubular spaceframe chassis with composite bodywork. While the rally version produced over 500 hp, the Stradale was detuned for road use and fitted with a luxurious Alcantara interior, though it remains a visceral, high-performance machine.

Lancia Delta S4 Stradale fun facts
- The S4 was Lancia's first four-wheel-drive vehicle, featuring a Ferguson viscous central differential that split torque 30% front and 70% rear.
- Though 200 units were required for homologation, many experts believe Lancia actually produced significantly fewer, with some estimates as low as 80 units.
- The Stradale's bodywork was made of epoxy and fiberglass, designed to mimic the silhouette of the mass-market Delta for marketing purposes.
