About the Lancia Dedra
The Lancia Dedra was launched in 1989 as a premium successor to the Prisma, sharing its 'Tipo Tre' platform with the Fiat Tempra and Alfa Romeo 155. Designed by Ercole Spada at I.DE.A Institute, it achieved a remarkably low drag coefficient of 0.29, emphasising aerodynamic efficiency and understated elegance. The 1.6 i.e. served as an accessible entry point to the range, featuring single-point fuel injection and a focus on cabin refinement with high-quality materials like Alcantara. While it lacked the raw performance of the Integrale variants, it offered a comfortable, well-appointed interior that aimed to challenge the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes 190E.

Lancia Dedra fun facts
- The Dedra's drag coefficient of 0.29 was exceptionally low for a production saloon in the late 1980s, aiding both fuel economy and high-speed stability.
- Despite its premium positioning, the Dedra shared its floorpan with the more utilitarian Fiat Tempra and the sportier Alfa Romeo 155 as part of Fiat's platform-sharing strategy.
- Lancia withdrew from right-hand drive markets in 1994, making late-model Dedras a rare sight in the United Kingdom.
