About the Jaguar S-Type
Introduced in 1963, the Jaguar S-Type was designed to bridge the gap between the compact Mark 2 and the flagship Mark X. It utilised a modified Mark 2 monocoque but featured the sophisticated independent rear suspension from the Mark X, significantly improving ride quality and handling over its predecessor's live axle. Visually distinguished by its longer rear overhang and slim bumpers, the S-Type offered a more spacious boot and a more luxurious, wood-trimmed interior. While heavier and slightly slower than the Mark 2, it is now prized by collectors for its superior refinement and 'magic carpet' ride.
