About the Jaguar Mark 1

Introduced in 1957 to satisfy American demand for more power, the 3.4-litre variant of the Jaguar Mark 1 transformed the model into a genuine high-performance saloon. It was Jaguar's first foray into unitary construction, offering a stiffer and lighter chassis than its predecessors. The 3.4 is distinguished by its larger front grille and cutaway rear wheel spats, necessary to accommodate optional wire wheels. While often overshadowed by the later Mark 2, the Mark 1 3.4 was a formidable racer in its day, campaigned by legends like Stirling Moss and Mike Hawthorn.
