About the Infiniti QX50 J55
The second-generation Infiniti QX50 (J55) marked a radical departure from its rear-drive predecessor, moving to a front-biased platform to maximise interior space. Its defining feature is the KR20DDET engine, which uses a multi-link system to continuously vary the piston reach, adjusting the compression ratio between 8:1 and 14:1. This technology aims to provide the performance of a larger V6 with the efficiency of a four-cylinder. While the interior is highly praised for its premium materials and sliding rear seats, the driving experience is often noted for the CVT's tendency to mask the engine's innovative character.
