About the Hyundai Lantra J2

The second-generation Hyundai Lantra (J2) represented a significant leap forward for the Korean manufacturer, moving away from licensed Mitsubishi platforms to in-house development. Its 'biodesign' styling featured smooth, ovoid lines that were highly contemporary for the mid-1990s, aimed at competing directly with the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla. While not a performance car, it offered a fully independent suspension setup that provided a more sophisticated ride than its budget-focused predecessor. Today, it is remembered as the model that helped establish Hyundai as a credible, mainstream player in the European and Australian markets.
