About the Hyundai i20 PB
The first-generation Hyundai i20, internal code PB, was designed at Hyundai's European technical centre in Germany to replace the ageing Getz. The 1.2 Classic served as the entry-level trim, featuring the 'Kappa' engine which utilised an aluminium block and DOHC head to improve efficiency. While not performance-oriented, it gained a reputation for solid build quality, a spacious interior for its class, and a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating. It was a pivotal model in shifting brand perception from budget-focused to a genuine rival for the Ford Fiesta and Vauxhall Corsa.
