About the Hummer H3
Introduced for the 2006 model year, the H3 was Hummer's attempt to capture a broader market by offering a more manageable, mid-sized alternative to the massive H2. Built on a modified GMT355 platform shared with the Chevrolet Colorado, it retained the brand's signature boxy aesthetic and exceptional off-road credentials, including a two-speed transfer case and high ground clearance. The 3.5-litre 'Atlas' inline-five engine was often criticised for being underpowered for the vehicle's 2.1-tonne kerb weight, leading to a displacement increase to 3.7 litres in 2007. Despite its polarizing image, the H3 remains a capable off-roader with a dedicated following, representing the final chapter of the original Hummer brand before its 2010 discontinuation.
