About the Humber Super Snipe Series
Introduced in October 1958, the Series I Super Snipe marked a significant shift for Humber, moving to a unitised chassis shared with the smaller Hawk. It featured a new 2.6-litre six-cylinder engine designed by Armstrong Siddeley, notable for its hemispherical combustion chambers which provided smooth, effortless power. The car's styling was heavily influenced by contemporary American trends, featuring wrap-around windscreens and a spacious, wood-trimmed interior. While it lacked the disc brakes of later series, it was highly regarded for its comfort and was a popular choice for high-ranking government officials and professionals.
