About the Humber Hawk Series
The Humber Hawk Series II, introduced in 1960, represented the refined peak of the Rootes Group's four-cylinder executive range. Sharing its substantial unitary bodyshell with the six-cylinder Super Snipe, the Hawk offered exceptional interior space and a smooth, dignified ride that appealed to professional classes. The Series II update notably introduced servo-assisted front disc brakes, significantly improving stopping power for this heavy saloon. While its 2.3-litre engine was an older design, it was praised for its tractability and quiet operation, making it a quintessential British 'gentleman's express' of the early 1960s.
