About the Honda Torneo
Introduced in 1997, the Honda Torneo was a Japanese Domestic Market exclusive designed to provide a sportier alternative to the sixth-generation Accord. Sold through Honda's Primo and Verno dealership networks, it featured unique styling including more aggressive headlights and a distinct grille. The SiR trim utilised the high-revving F20B engine, a 'destroked' version of the H22A designed to stay within Japan's 2.0-litre tax bracket while still offering VTEC performance. While the manual SiR-T was the enthusiast's choice, the SiR offered a 'S-Matic' sequential automatic, blending daily usability with Honda's signature high-RPM character.
