About the Honda S600

The Honda S600 was the company's first mass-marketed automobile and a technical tour de force that showcased Soichiro Honda's racing pedigree. Its jewel-like 606cc engine features a roller-bearing crankshaft and four Keihin carburettors, allowing it to scream to a motorcycle-like 9,500 rpm redline. Most distinctively, the early models utilised an enclosed chain-drive system to the rear wheels, which also functioned as trailing arms for the independent rear suspension. Compact and lightweight, it offered a visceral driving experience that prioritised mechanical purity and high-revving engagement over outright speed.
