About the Honda HR-V Mk3
The third-generation Honda HR-V, launched in late 2021, represents a significant shift toward electrification, sold exclusively in Europe as the e:HEV hybrid. It utilises a unique powertrain where the 1.5-litre petrol engine primarily acts as a generator for the electric motor, only driving the wheels directly via a lock-up clutch at high speeds. The design adopts a minimalist, coupe-like silhouette while retaining Honda's signature 'Magic Seats' for class-leading practicality. The Advance trim sits in the middle of the range, adding features like a hands-free power tailgate and a heated steering wheel to the standard hybrid package.

Honda HR-V Mk3 fun facts
- The HR-V's e:HEV system does not have a conventional gearbox; it uses a single fixed-gear ratio to connect the engine to the wheels during high-speed cruising.
- Despite its sloping coupe-like roofline, the Mk3 HR-V retains Honda's 'Magic Seats', which allow the rear seat bases to flip up like cinema seats to carry tall items.
- The air diffusion system in the cabin is designed to create a curtain of fresh air along the side windows rather than blowing directly on the occupants.
