About the Ford Transit Connect Mk1

The first-generation Ford Transit Connect was a clean-sheet design developed by Ford of Europe to replace the smaller Escort and Fiesta-based vans. Unlike its predecessors, it was built on a dedicated commercial vehicle platform using components from the Focus, resulting in car-like handling and class-leading rigidity. The 1.8-litre TDCi engine provided a balance of fuel efficiency and torque, making it a staple for urban deliveries. Its high-roof design and side-loading doors offered practicality that set a new benchmark for the compact LCV segment.
