About the Ford Model A

The Ford Model A was the long-awaited successor to the Model T, introducing a more conventional driving experience with a standard three-pedal layout and a sliding-gear transmission. The Tudor (two-door) sedan was the most popular body style, offering a fully enclosed steel body that provided better durability and weather protection than earlier wood-framed designs. Its 3.3-litre 'L-head' engine doubled the power of its predecessor, allowing for a top speed of approximately 65 mph. As the first Ford to feature safety glass in the windshield and four-wheel mechanical brakes, it represented a significant leap in safety and refinement for the mass market.
